The Fireworks

May Allah peace be upon you and greetings.

Ever since it’s birth, fireworks has been a phenomenon in its class. You don’t need to be a historian to know how prominent the usage of it, let alone as a gyro engineer. It had been used as a medium of communication pre-historically. Most of the contemporary festivals and formal occasions have integrated fireworks in their celebrations.

Yesterday, it was engraved in my history of fireworks the spectacular view during the New Year celebration. I am not the night-out person so I watched the celebration via the stupid box – the television. Indeed, I admit that from the artistic and design point of view, it was mind blowing. Calibrating the size and shape of explosion to the highest accuracy, blended with intricately patterns and “rainbowish” colour really involves “rocket science”. However, there is something crucial to ponder apart from that amusement.

As a Muslim, dated back on the 18th December 2009 was the New Year in accordance to our lunar calendar. It was the 1st Muharram 1431 Hijri. By the way, Muharram is the first month in our calendar system. 2 weeks after that, which is today is the New Year according to Gregorian calendar. How amazing is it?

Time is relative. It starts and soon will end. We live in the dimension of time as a subset which soon will perish one day. We get older by seconds, not by years. It marks the “seasoned” of our body system. The most important question is, does it mark the quality of humanity inside us? How we structured our life in the past? Will it be promising in the future? Churchill once said, the future is determined by the action in the past.

Speaking of humanity, according to Ustaz Hasrizal Abdul Jamil ( we are obligated with emotional, intellectual, physical, and spiritual quotient. These aptitudes are naturally inside us. The bigger the influence, the better we will be provided the expansion of these quotients lead us to goodness and positive outcome.

I may not be the best person to speak about humanity since me myself is learning and developing the qualities that have been embedded deep inside my soul. However, I may urge myself as well as the readers to ponder the life we’ve spend for the past years. If we are suppose to draw a graph, let say  age against contribution to the society. How will our graph look like? Does it exponentially increase? Linear relationship? Moderate? Inconsistent?Wobbling? No significant change at all? You name it. It is you yourself who know the answer.

Abraham Lincoln once said, We create living by contributions that we are willing to give in our life. Bear in mind that the word ‘contributions’ here is abstract. It can be wealth, health, time,or even ideas. As long as the contribution will benefit others. In fact, imagine if you donate your money to a charity fund, how would you feel about it? Knowing that your money is used for helping poor people, young kids, old people, or disables who need some extra help in their life? You would be much happy will you?

I’ve done the checklist in my life diary, hoping to improve the positive qualities that I have, and adding others that I might aware of as time passes by. The key ingredients here is consistency. Regardless of my study, my social environment, my emotional and spiritual quotient, I realize that I must deal with my consistency first before taking to the next steps. As soon as it becomes a habit in me, there is no awkward feeling for change. I’ve ticked my checklist, would you like to follow me?

“The art of progress is to preserve order amid change and to preserve change amid order. – Alfred North Whitehead

Two faces of the same coin

May Allah Peace be Upon You and greetings.

Have you wonder when you were young, your mummy or daddy might have taught you to be honest and sincere 24/7? Not weekly, daily, monthly, nor yearly basis! When you went to school, your teacher would teach you the same thing of being honest and sincere. No cheating in exams!, no cheating in your words!, no cheating in your act! Honesty elevate your status. But why is it?

It reminds me of the greatest people God had created to humankind, in fact he was acknowledged and recognised by the westerns as the most influential people in human history. For me, personally the title given by the western scholars is not a big deal considering that people are now “well educated” with the influence of ethics and reasoning which may justifies issue reasonably. They are scholars who did the research, their knowledge rectified the fact.

In the era of “Jahilliyah”, an arabic words which mean “uncivilized”,”stubborn”,and “incontempt”. Where the lifestyle was founded solely by desire, hunger for power, killing intent, and discrimination,etc2.(all those negative adjectives you can find in English dictionary). Where women were acted like an animal or slaves. Where poor people were tortured and rejected with no wealthy organization to shelter them. In the era of cruel and doom in the arabic continent, there was a man whom turn a desert into oasis, fear into happiness..a man who was called “Al-Ameen” – the Thrustworthy among the Jahilliyans..He was, Muhammad Peace be Upon him..the most influential people of all, spreading the beautiful words and peace of islam across the globe. Uniting nations by divine belief, uplifting the status of women, and the savior for the believers.

The title “The thrustworthy” was given to him by his people. He was the one to look for if someone needs aid of thrustworthy and sincerity. He was the man whom the richest trader in Arab believe in to look after her bussiness. As if the people of arabs during that moment were confessing that there is nobody at that time as thrustworthy and honest apart from Muhammad. This is proven even after Muhammad had been appointed by Allah to be His messanger. People do believe in him but they don’t believe the religion that he preaches. Weird eh? That’s another issue to discuss later.

The point here is emphasizely for us who believes in the teachings of Islam, and for those who not believe, or still searching points to believe, you might want to think about it too.Taking prophet Muhammad as our role model and hoping to meet him in paradise one day (insyaAllah – by god’s will), it is absolutely obvious that to be with him is to follow his footsteps right? One step that he leaves us to follow is the step of Thrustworthy and Honesty. Speaking of which, have we being really honest and thruth in our lives? Or we take it for granted?

Simply, let say you are a manager and you have a client in your bussiness. Will you be honest with them saying the truth about your progress or fooling them by playing with your words if something goes wrong by your fault? Creating news and stories to please them and of course, pleasing you from being scolded or noted! People used to say this, a trick. Is lying a trick in business management? Is it what prophet told us to do so?

The concept of honesty and trustworthy is a daily basis. It applicable in all situation and circumstances. Even prophet Muhammad had reminded us that those who don’t have honesty and thrustworthy in their heart will not enter paradise. Claiming the superb important of this quality in our life.

Let us be honest and thrust in our doings. Do not afraid to admit mistakes since it is a process of learning. Expressing your honesty and thrustworthy even will bring you self satisfaction and confidence rather than lying which makes you hiding beneath your own shadow. Only cowards do that! It’s simply the best to be a one face than two faces person. I think that may justifies why “Money” can be evil to someone since it has two faces. sigh

What is uttered from the heart alone, Will win the hearts of others to your own.

When the sun shines

May Allah Peace be upon you and greetings.

It has been a while since the try and error habits integrated in me quite a few years back. Somehow, I thought that I’ve already done my best in things that I do..but am I really striving that hard? It’s a very difficult question for me to answer though. Frankly, it’s hard to find the absolute satisfaction. Does it sound normal or wacko abnormalities buzzing around this timid mind? Maybe that justifies a saying “desire is like a salt water, it cant quench your’ll make you even more thirsty”.

When a frequent saying came across me, “there is always a silver lining”..I always believe that whatever I do, as long as my intention is pure, followed by fully preparations and perseverance act god’s will, HE will ultimately ease my task and show me the way to find HIM in ME. To find peace and happiness that my soul need the most. Regardless of anything that’s happening to me, whether people see it as a calamity misfortune or a bless.  I am what I am, and I act on what I learn, not when I am forced to.

This might be the place where the thoughts and diaries will be shared. I ask Allah for guiding me and forbid me from dropping into the hell of arrogance, boasting, and liar. It’s a place for sharing, it’s a place for learning. Either in English or Malay, it doesn’t matter. Either you are Malay,Indian,Chinese,Javanese,Caucasians,Blacks, doesn’t matter. The aim is to share the thoughts, to find the truth..and I am hoping to see the silver linings, when the sun shines again…
