Two faces of the same coin
May Allah Peace be Upon You and greetings.
Have you wonder when you were young, your mummy or daddy might have taught you to be honest and sincere 24/7? Not weekly, daily, monthly, nor yearly basis! When you went to school, your teacher would teach you the same thing of being honest and sincere. No cheating in exams!, no cheating in your words!, no cheating in your act! Honesty elevate your status. But why is it?
It reminds me of the greatest people God had created to humankind, in fact he was acknowledged and recognised by the westerns as the most influential people in human history. For me, personally the title given by the western scholars is not a big deal considering that people are now “well educated” with the influence of ethics and reasoning which may justifies issue reasonably. They are scholars who did the research, their knowledge rectified the fact.
In the era of “Jahilliyah”, an arabic words which mean “uncivilized”,”stubborn”,and “incontempt”. Where the lifestyle was founded solely by desire, hunger for power, killing intent, and discrimination,etc2.(all those negative adjectives you can find in English dictionary). Where women were acted like an animal or slaves. Where poor people were tortured and rejected with no wealthy organization to shelter them. In the era of cruel and doom in the arabic continent, there was a man whom turn a desert into oasis, fear into happiness..a man who was called “Al-Ameen” – the Thrustworthy among the Jahilliyans..He was, Muhammad Peace be Upon him..the most influential people of all, spreading the beautiful words and peace of islam across the globe. Uniting nations by divine belief, uplifting the status of women, and the savior for the believers.
The title “The thrustworthy” was given to him by his people. He was the one to look for if someone needs aid of thrustworthy and sincerity. He was the man whom the richest trader in Arab believe in to look after her bussiness. As if the people of arabs during that moment were confessing that there is nobody at that time as thrustworthy and honest apart from Muhammad. This is proven even after Muhammad had been appointed by Allah to be His messanger. People do believe in him but they don’t believe the religion that he preaches. Weird eh? That’s another issue to discuss later.
The point here is emphasizely for us who believes in the teachings of Islam, and for those who not believe, or still searching points to believe, you might want to think about it too.Taking prophet Muhammad as our role model and hoping to meet him in paradise one day (insyaAllah – by god’s will), it is absolutely obvious that to be with him is to follow his footsteps right? One step that he leaves us to follow is the step of Thrustworthy and Honesty. Speaking of which, have we being really honest and thruth in our lives? Or we take it for granted?
Simply, let say you are a manager and you have a client in your bussiness. Will you be honest with them saying the truth about your progress or fooling them by playing with your words if something goes wrong by your fault? Creating news and stories to please them and of course, pleasing you from being scolded or noted! People used to say this, a trick. Is lying a trick in business management? Is it what prophet told us to do so?
The concept of honesty and trustworthy is a daily basis. It applicable in all situation and circumstances. Even prophet Muhammad had reminded us that those who don’t have honesty and thrustworthy in their heart will not enter paradise. Claiming the superb important of this quality in our life.
Let us be honest and thrust in our doings. Do not afraid to admit mistakes since it is a process of learning. Expressing your honesty and thrustworthy even will bring you self satisfaction and confidence rather than lying which makes you hiding beneath your own shadow. Only cowards do that! It’s simply the best to be a one face than two faces person. I think that may justifies why “Money” can be evil to someone since it has two faces. sigh
“What is uttered from the heart alone, Will win the hearts of others to your own.”
